  2. On the first day of school, the thing I first noticed about Lynbrook was how free it was. It feels weird to be allowed to use our phones during school hours at all, and as it turns out, we might be expected to use them for some of our classes. The notion that you're allowed to leave campus during lunch is also new to me. Teachers often expect us to do most things on our own, and such a large amount of responsibility is definitely something I am not well-acquainted with.
I really hope I'll be able to survive this year.

    1. I agree. In Miller, we didn't have as much personal responsibilities. It's very different here in Lynbrook.

  3. Lynbrook has myriad aspects that are appealing to me. One characteristic that is most prominent is the food. As I compare Miller's and Lynbrook's food, there are noticeable differences; Lynbrook's food is A LOT better. The overall taste and selection of foods in what distinguishes it the most from Miller's sustenance (there are fries here). Also, the teachers seem to be better: they are a great deal more descriptive about their lessons, and seem to be a lot more attentive to what their students are comfortable with, as displayed by Ms. Ene's efforts to see our responses in the Socratic Seminar.

    1. While I agree that the food at lynbrook is better than Miller's, I still feel that the food could be better

    2. I agree, the food in Lynbrook tastes way better! And the teachers here are a lot better than I thought they would be! They would actually try to do something to make the students more active in class. :P

    1. I agree since everyone helps each other out. The teachers are always happier whenever we ask questions, and they make us feel more comfortable at school.

  7. Even though Lynbrook is such a big school and I kept getting lost last week, but now I am getting better at finding my ways now. I really like this school and the teachers here are always so kind and are willing to help you on their free time.

    1. I absolutely agree! The teachers are often not lenient; however, they are definitely kind and helpful.
(Also, didn't pretty much everyone get lost last week?)

    2. I agree, b/c all the class buildings looked identical and the only way you could differentiate them was by their room number or if they had some sort of poster on the door

  9. I feel like we have a lot more freedom here then in Miller. For example, the schedule changes from day to day to accommodate different people's needs.

  10. Lynbrook is really nice. It has a great campus and the people here are really nice. Sometimes its hard to find classes because every building looks the same. I like the band room and I like marching band at Lynbrook. Some of the seniors and juniors are really nice even though they are really stressed out.

    1. I have the same problems finding my classes, too. I sometimes don go to the right building because most of the buildings look the same. I am also enjoying the upperclassmen in marching band. They are very nice and friendly.

  12. My impressions of lynbrook so far was that the people were welcoming. My orientation was amazing, with great link crew leaders, and teachers that understood me. However, with the pace of some of my classes and the fact that lynbrook needs tutorials, I feel like I'll need to work hard to succeed

  13. Lynbrook is overall, a friendly environment but easy to get lost in, but people are willing to help find your way through. Not just the students but the teachers also. I also feel like the teachers here care a lot more about how the student feels in his/her class.

  14. My first impression of lynbrook so far is good there are so many nice people and teachers to help you out whenever you need it.
There are a lot of good people to surround yourself with, and plenty of teachers who are always ready and love to help.

  15. I really like the big campus here at Lynbrook, it's free of 6 graders running around everywhere. There is also better equipment we can use in classes. Though I have yet to try out the cafeteria food.

  16. Lynbrook is a much bigger school than Miller, but it has a great environment and the teachers trust you and give you more freedom than at Miller. The school environment is positive and feels as if everyone is willing to talk to you and be your friend, but most importantly, the freshmen, the sophomores, the teachers - everyone is willing to offer help. The teachers also trust you - this can be express in several ways but especially with tutorials. Teachers have enough faith in the students that they are willing to give up class time to allow the students to study.

    1. I concur. Here there is a lot more freedom with our time, and that is so different from Miller because there the teachers caution strongly against studying in class.

  17. So far I like the schedule because I get two late start days. Although that is nice, I feel that the teachers dove right into assigning homework on the first day. I am enjoying the campus and the schedule but I don´t like all the homework I have been assigned.

    1. True. The block days make it easier to prioritize homework though.

    2. Yeah I like the two late start days and I don't like the homework. The campus is also good.

  18. My impressions of Lynbrook so far is that its a lot better then miller, the teachers sound like they actually care, they go into details more, and just all of them seem like they like what they do.

    2. I also concur with this statement. The teachers seem to be a lot more passionate about their subjects and do not seem to have the monotonous teaching styles of some teachers at Miller.

  19. My impression of lynbrook is how odd it was to be so fre all the time!At miller the teachers would give us trash duties for just taking our phone out to see what time it is but for lhs they are much more acedemic and they don't even care !!i think that they do it here to make the student feel more like a home experience and to have a good time

  20. The first day of school I wasnt really "intimadated" per say, only because when you have siblings at the school you already know people. So there already was 20-30 people who knew who I was. And over all everything else was very nice and confortable to get used to.

  21. Lynbrook isn't as scary as I thought it would be. Upperclassmen and teachers are nice and welcoming. The campus is bigger than Miller's, but isn't very hard to navigate.

  22. The food is better than Miller's, and the teachers are very nice. Also, the campus is very big, so I thought I was going to get lost on the first day of school. However, it did not seem that big after actually walking to my classes. The only thing which confuses me sometimes is the bell schedule.

  23. I agree with Haley, not only is the food better but the teachers adjust a great deal to make the lessons more enticing and more relevant to our everyday lives. This is evident when Ms. Ene claimed that she had to rewrite the quiz because the books mentioned weren't as popular today as they were a few years ago.

  24. I really like how all the teachers are organized.

  25. Coming into Lynbrook, I knew it deep in my bones that freshman year was not going to be a fun experience. Being on the bottom of the food chain had no appeal to me whatsoever. In the first few days, it was. But now after a week, I've been talking to everyone and made friends even people outside of my grade. Generally, high school has helped me make friends instead of how I thought I'd be socially awkward.
